Third-Party Services Agreements

The Maddux School staff uses a variety of third-party online educational resources (“Services”) which we have found to be beneficial to our curriculum. Federal regulations apply to these Services and require parental consent when the Services collect information on children.  Please visit individual websites for additional information.  Consent forms are available through your Operoo account or through The Maddux School adminstrators.

BrainPOP

Type of Service: The purpose of this website is to allow teachers/students to create/participate in classes by way of online resources (quizzes, activities, movies etc.)

Code Spark

Type of Service: Code Spark is a learn-to-code website/app

Google for Education

Type of Service:  Google for Education provides a self-contained, ad-free, and filtered environment for students and staff to create, edit, collaborate, and share information with each other as well as, when appropriate, publish some resources publicly. The features and options available are based on grade level, student awareness, requirements for coursework, and formal permission from parents. Students will be assigned a student email account. This account will be considered the student’s Maddux email address until such time as the student is no longer enrolled at The Maddux School. The account is not a personal email address. 

The account will only allow sending and receiving of email between staff and students at The Maddux School. (Exceptions to this filter may be made on a case by case basis for external email addresses which directly support a student’s education, such as that of a parent or employer. In these cases, the parent will be asked to sign an “External Email Authorization Form”). The account will be deleted when the student leaves The Maddux School. Accounts will not be enabled without parent permission.

i-Ready

Type of Service: i-Ready provides engaging and interactive instruction in math that corresponds to the Ready Common Core Mathematics curriculum.

Keyboarding without Tears

Type of Service:  Keyboarding Without Tears is a web-based K-5 typing curriculum that integrates typing instruction, computer skills, and digital citizenship. Typing lessons are cross-curricular to reinforce ELA, Social Studies, Science, and Math skills while teaching typing skills

Learning A-Z (Raz-Kids and Headsprout)

Type of Service: Learning A-Z provides reading support resources such as lessons, decodable books, leveled readers, and more through their Reading A-Z, Raz-Kids, Headsprout, and other services. 

Microsoft Office 365 (Teams)

Type of Service: The Microsoft Teams platform that will be used to host live, synchronous lessons and video sessions during remote instruction (e.g., Teams, OneNote).

Privacy Information: The Maddux SchoolMicrosoft calls “Tier D” compliant, which means it has a robust set of security measures to meet, through Ivymount Corporation, has a contractual commitment from Microsoft attesting to Microsoft’s FERPA compliance.  Ivymount also has a BAA with Microsoft for the use of the services Ivymount staff, including Maddux School staff, use.  This includes Microsoft Teams is what  several security standards. Prodigy

Type of Service: Prodigy is an adaptive, game-based learning platform with standards-aligned skills in Math and English.

Reading Playground, by Really Great Reading

Type of Service: Reading Playground is a play-based digital platform that merges learning, assessment and practice in phonics and literacy skills.

YouTube

Type of Service: YouTube is a free video sharing website.  Students access it under adult supervision for education purposes.
