Third-Party Services Agreements

The Maddux School staff uses a variety of third-party online educational resources (“Services”) which we have found to be beneficial to our curriculum. Federal regulations apply to these Services and require parental consent when the Services collect information on children.  Please visit individual websites for additional information.  Consent forms are available through your Operoo account or through The Maddux School adminstrators.

Boom Cards

Type of Service: Boom Cards are self-grading exercises that are gamified for students. 

BrainPOP

Type of Service: The purpose of this website is to allow teachers/students to create/participate in classes by way of online resources (quizzes, activities, movies etc.)

Discovery Education

Type of Service: Discovery Education provides online textbooks for Social Studies and Science, a wide variety of videos and primary documents for range of courses, and classroom management/assessment materials to help staff appropriately target resources.

Google for Education

Type of Service:  Google for Education provides a self-contained, ad-free, and filtered environment for students and staff to create, edit, collaborate, and share information with each other as well as, when appropriate, publish some resources publicly. The features and options available are based on grade level, student awareness, requirements for coursework, and formal permission from parents. Students will be assigned a student email account. This account will be considered the student’s Maddux email address until such time as the student is no longer enrolled at The Maddux School. The account is not a personal email address. 

The account will only allow sending and receiving of email between staff and students at The Maddux School. (Exceptions to this filter may be made on a case by case basis for external email addresses which directly support a student’s education, such as that of a parent or employer. In these cases, the parent will be asked to sign an “External Email Authorization Form”). The account will be deleted when the student leaves The Maddux School. Accounts will not be enabled without parent permission.

Keyboarding without Tears

Type of Service:  Keyboarding Without Tears is a web-based K-5 typing curriculum that integrates typing instruction, computer skills, and digital citizenship. Typing lessons are cross-curricular to reinforce ELA, Social Studies, Science, and Math skills while teaching typing skills

Kahoot

Type of Service: Make learning fun, engaging, and impactful for students studying at home and in school. Teachers create fun learning games to introduce a topic, review and reinforce knowledge, and run formative assessment.

Learning A-Z (Raz-Kids and Headsprout)

Type of Service: Learning A-Z provides reading support resources such as lessons, decodable books, leveled readers, and more through their Reading A-Z, Raz-Kids, Headsprout, and other services. 

Microsoft Office 365 (Teams)

Type of Service: The Microsoft Teams platform that will be used to host live, synchronous lessons and video sessions during remote instruction (e.g., Teams, OneNote).

Privacy Information: The Maddux SchoolMicrosoft calls “Tier D” compliant, which means it has a robust set of security measures to meet, through Ivymount Corporation, has a contractual commitment from Microsoft attesting to Microsoft’s FERPA compliance.  Ivymount also has a BAA with Microsoft for the use of the services Ivymount staff, including Maddux School staff, use.  This includes Microsoft Teams is what  several security standards. Pear Deck

Type of Service: Pear Deck was founded by educators on a mission to help teachers engage every student, every day. With solutions rooted in active learning and formative assessment, we make it easy for you to connect with learners of every age and ability.

Savvas Realize (Easy Bridge Basic)

Type of Service: Easy Bridge is a rostering tool that syncs Maddux student information between different Savvas platforms. Students do not interact with the Easy Bridge interface.

Seesaw

Type of Service:  Seesaw is an online learning platform that provides teachers, students, and families multiple ways of interacting with the curriculum. Students have options to respond using video, drawing, text, or with a document they create.

Zearn

Type of Service: Zearn is a mathematics instruction platform that offers technology enhanced supports like videos and interactive tools that pair with teacher instruction 

Information Provided: Student initials, grade level, and student generated content 

Zoom for Education

Type of Service:  Zoom for Education is a FERPA compliant web-conferencing service that allows synchronous class sessions and a variety of features including screen sharing, digital whiteboarding, and real-time annotation. The Maddux School families will join Zoom calls as a guest with information provided by Maddux staff.
